J.D. McKinnon, a writer for the popular parenting website The Next Level, has an idea for an upcoming parenting blog that she hopes will bring the joys of blogging to parents: the cursed child.
“I’ve always loved children,” McKinnon wrote in an email to Motherboard.
“It’s a joy and a joy to write about.”
McKinnon is a self-described “cursed child” and grew up with a “Cursed Child” character, but her obsession with the topic is inextricably linked to her own childhood.
“My first memory of my cursed child is of seeing the TV show My Little Pony, where my parents were very into the show,” she wrote.
“They were obsessed with it and I was a little kid.
I remember watching a bunch of the episodes and thinking, I wish I could do this.”
McKinnings mother, a college graduate and mother of two, has seen the show and is a big fan of it.
“She just wanted me to be a part of it,” McKinnell said.
“There’s a little bit of me there.”
In the book, McKinnon shares the story of how she found out she was cursed when her sister, who she describes as a “fierce, tomboy-looking girl,” was born.
“At that time, I was in my twenties, and my parents had a little girl who was extremely adorable,” McKillins mother said.
McKinnins parents were not familiar with the show, but she wrote about it and shared it with her mother, who said she loved it.
McKimmons mother also said that she had a feeling that her child was cursed, and she was not able to help herself from reading the series, which had the “curse girl” as a main character.
“The book itself was not really for me,” McKimmans mother said, adding that she was a fan of the series as a whole.
“So I started reading it and it was the perfect opportunity for me to finally be a cursed child,” she said.
The book was released on May 5, 2019.
The series is set in a fictional fictional version of America, where the mother of three is a nurse and her daughter is an aspiring writer.
The books series focuses on a boy named Mackenzie, who, in an episode called “A Little Baby,” writes an essay about his cursed child and the parents.
The essay is titled, “Curse or Curse,” and describes how his mother’s daughter is cursed by her father.
“Her name is Mackenzie,” Mackenzie writes.
“This cursed child will never love you, or ever see you again, nor ever hear the name of your father.
He will always know you only as a name, and as a curse.”
McKimmicks mother, whose daughter is a writer, believes her daughter was cursed because her mother had a crush on the cursed character.
“[Mackenzie] had the curse,” McKunnins mother told Motherboard in an interview.
“You know, I’ve always been a fan.
I thought it was just cool and funny that they did a show about a cursed person.”
“When I was about 12, I started looking for cursed characters and I started to read them,” McKills mom continued.
“And I had a whole shelf of books with cursed characters.
And I started thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s a curse.’
I think that’s what I’m really into.”
In her book, the mother said that the curse she experienced in childhood was “the hardest one I’ve ever had to deal with.”
“I remember thinking, this is not right,” McKannys mother said about the experience of growing up as a cursed girl.
“But I still think that I was cursed.”
McKillings mother believes her son, who is a child psychologist, was cursed as a child because his mother and his father “didn’t always like each other.”
“She was like a bad mother, like they were not really friends,” McKennys mother continued.
In an interview with Motherboard, McKunnys son, Matthew McKinnon said that his mother had an “extremely dark, abusive past.”
“The first thing that I remember her saying when I was five or six years old, she was like, ‘I’m gonna kill you,’ and I remember thinking that that was not good for my future,” Matthew McKunnxs mother said in an e-mail to Motherboards.
“As I grew up, she got more and more into controlling me and punishing me for things that I had done wrong.
I think it was probably one of the reasons why I got into that career in psychology.”
McKannks mother told her son that her daughter’s parents had been married, and that her mother believed that her sister would grow up to be “a very bad person.”
