A court in India on Wednesday ordered the owners of chucky children’s playhouses to pay child support to a woman whose daughter died after a fall.
The court said the girl, aged between seven and 10, had suffered a head injury while playing in the playgrounds, in the southern state of Chhattisgarh.
The woman, who was not named in court documents, died on January 27 after falling from a bridge in Gurdaspur.
Her husband, who is a taxi driver, is accused of negligence and criminal negligence.
The woman’s father filed a petition in court alleging negligence and wrongful death.
The child’s father had claimed that the mother had dropped her child while he was driving and had been seriously injured.
After the mother failed to pay the child support, the father went to the police station to file a complaint, but the case was dismissed in January after the woman’s family refused to pay.
The couple, who did not respond to calls, said in a statement that they were not aware that the child was a girl and that they had not paid child support for their daughter.
